Switzerland: New Technology

As the EU AI Act's transparency obligations take effect from August 2026, companies deploying AI tools across Europe face a critical compliance challenge: ensuring users know when they're interacting with artificial intelligence. Swiss companies operating in or targeting the EU market must now navigate specific disclosure requirements for AI-generated content, deepfakes, emotion recognition systems, and biometric categorisation, with implementation timelines demanding immediate action.

Last year, Switzerland introduced new regulations governing automated driving in several respects. On March 1, 2025, Title IIa: "Vehicles with an automation system" (Art. 25a – 25h) was added to the Road Traffic Act (RTA).

With powerful language models and a wide range of AI tools at our disposal, and the legal requirements largely manageable, a key challenge remains: how can we ensure users fully leverage the opportunities AI offers?
