The London office of Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw have advised Unilever on a 1 billion Euro deal with BT to manage and develop Unilever's entire global communications infrastructure.
Under the contract, Unilever will be provided with a high quality and cost effective communications network for its sites around the globe.
The contract, one of the biggest commercial contracts in UK telecoms history, will see BT deliver an array of best in class voice, data and mobile services as well as developing new technologies on behalf of Unilever. Unilever will also be able to reduce its current supplier base down to one single partner and will benefit from substantial cost savings.
Andrew Stewart of MBR&M said, "Unilever is an important long-term client of ours and this is the largest commercial deal we have advised them on to date. We were very pleased to be able to advise them on such a landmark transaction and to successfully complete within tight time constraints."
Unilever was represented by James Berkeley, in house counsel. Corporate partner Andrew Stewart led the Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw team and was assisted by David Morrison (Corporate), Julian Roskill (Employment), Kiran Desai (Competition) and Richard Evans (Pensions).
BT was advised by BT Ignite’s legal and regulatory team led by David Eveleigh and Nicholas Butler and by Linklaters' IT & Communications team, led by Graeme Maguire and including Marly Didizian and Alison Deighton.
