Washington DC – Raj De, partner of Mayer Brown's Washington DC office, joined the Center for Democracy & Technology's (CDT) Board of Directors. CDT is the leading nonpartisan, nonprofit organization fighting to advance human rights and democracy in the digital age.

"I'm honored to welcome Raj to CDT's Board of Directors," said Alexandra Reeve Givens, CDT's President & CEO. "Raj is one of the country's foremost experts on cybersecurity, national security, and tech law, with deep experience across all three branches of government."

Raj, a member of Mayer Brown's global Management Committee, leads the firm's Cybersecurity & Data Privacy and National Security practices. He handles cutting-edge legal and policy issues at the nexus of technology, national security, law enforcement, and privacy. Before returning to private practice, Raj held key roles in all three branches of the US government, including General Counsel of the National Security Agency, Staff Secretary to the President, and Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Policy.

Raj joins a distinguished group of CDT Board members including Judy Brewer, Bill Bernstein, Julie Brill, Dr. Lorrie Cranor, Peter Hustinx, Morten Kjaerum, Travis LeBlanc, Dominique Shelton Leipzig, Katherine Maher, Bruce Mehlman, Laura W. Murphy, Lisa Rice, and Mark Seifert. According to the organization, "Their expertise will help CDT continue to advance human rights and democratic values in a rapidly evolving tech policy landscape."
