On July 9, 2025, Turkey published the much-anticipated Climate Law No. 7552, marking a significant milestone in the country's environmental policy and business landscape.

Climate change remains a significant global threat, exacerbated by intensive use of fossil fuels and rapid industrialization processes. Extreme weather events, depletion of water resources, and the destruction of natural habitats—driven by increasing greenhouse gas emissions—profoundly impact both economies and societal structures.

Today, climate change mitigation and sustainable development goals play a decisive role in the restructuring of financial systems both globally and locally. It is important for financial institutions to steer their activities by taking environmental risks into account, in order to enhance the effectiveness of sustainable financing policies.
