Butler Snow is pleased to announce that attorney Ashley N. Wicks is set to present the "NMTC Basics Workshop," at the Novogradac 2025 New Markets Tax Credit Conference on June 4, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

Wicks, alongside three other panelists, will explore the process of learning the fundamentals of the new markets tax credit incentive, and the backgrounds and roles of significant players. The session will also focus on the alphabet of CDEs, QEIs, QLICIs, and QALICBs, as well as how to avoid recapture, and more from experts with years of experience.

The Novogradac New Markets Tax Credit Conference is a gathering of hundreds of community development professionals to explore the latest NMTC trends, regulatory updates and recommended practices for both seasoned practitioners and newcomers to the field. Wicks focuses her practice on Public Finance, State and Local Taxation, Tax Credits and Tax. In addition to her work in Public Finance, she is also President of the Butler Snow Foundation. She has been honored by BL Rankings, The Best Lawyers in America® and Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers® for her work in Tax Law. Wicks was named a Rising Star in the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits in 2024 and was voted Best Tax Attorney in the Jackson Free Press's Best of Jackson from 2018-2021. Her work and civic involvement have also been honored by the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Mississippi Business Journal and Visit Jackson, among others.

Wicks is a Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and American Bar Foundation, as well as a Scholar of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is actively involved in a number of legal and civic organizations, including the American, National, Magnolia, and Capital Bar Associations, as well as the National Association of Bond Lawyers. Wicks is recognized as a thought leader in her practice and frequently speaks on tax and public finance topics at industry conferences and events across the country, including at annual Novogradac conferences.

Wicks earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Jackson State University, her Juris Doctor from Tulane University and a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Alabama.
