The State of Qatar adopted Law No. 10 of 2020 for the Protection of Industrial Designs on April 19, 2020. This new law annulled the industrial design law dated 2002.

Adopting the new industrial design law has been a continuous attempt to protect Qatar's intellectual property rights.

The new law requires a decree on the implementation of the same which will inform about the procedures as well as related official fees with regard to the protection of industrial design.

Currently, cautionary notices published in local newspapers is the only possible protection to an industrial design against possible infringement. Thus it is highly advisable to publish cautionary notices in local newspapers to avoid any future conflict about infringement as well as to defend industrial design rights.
