Ricola® is known for its iconic herbal drops – but innovation never stands still. With the launch of the Ricola Drink Cubes®, the Swiss family-owned company is entering a new product category, combining its signature alpine herbs with vitamins and fruity flavors in a sugar-free, dissolvable cube format. Developed in collaboration with Austrian hydration brand waterdrop®, the Drink Cubes mark a bold step into the functional beverage space.
This strategic expansion, which included an investment in waterdrop, reflects Ricola’s commitment to innovation and its vision to bring the benefits of its herbal expertise to new formats and audiences. We are privileged to have supported Ricola on this exciting journey on all legal aspects of the project, including corporate, contractual, regulatory and commercial matters. The Kellerhals Carrard team was led by Karim Maizar (Partner, Corporate), and included Daniel Emch (Partner, Antitrust), Stefanie Karlen (Counsel, Antitrust), Stefanie Alder (Senior Associate, Antitrust), and Vera Vallone (Associate, IP/Commercial). We were also pleased to collaborate with Carmen Spielmann, consultant and founder of Majorelle Consulting, whose strategic insights and entrepreneurial spirit and approach added great value to the project. It has been a great pleasure working with her.
Patrik Hänggi, Executive Vice President Corporate Affairs, Member of Group Management of Ricola: “The Kellerhals Carrard team demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of our requirements and needs within the scope of the innovation project. Particularly noteworthy were their forward-thinking development of alternative solutions and their competent and reliable guidance in developing and establishing our strategic partnership with Waterdrop. Throughout the entire process, we felt well understood and supported.”
Congratulations to the Ricola team on this milestone – we look forward to continuing to support your path as you bring herbal innovation to new markets!
