Turkmenistan has acceded to the Protocol to the Eurasian Patent Convention for the Protection of Industrial Designs. The Protocol entered into force with respect to Turkmenistan on January 4, 2025.
Now, a Eurasian patent for an industrial design is protected in all 8 EAPC member states. This means that applicants can file one Eurasian application, which can include up to 100 industrial designs belonging to one class of the International Classification of Industrial Designs, to obtain simultaneous protection in all 8 EAPO member states.
The system for protecting industrial designs in the Eurasian region was created in 2021 and is gaining popularity every year. In 2024, the number of applications exceeded 500 per year for the first time.Various solutions can be patented - from the appearance of packaging and household items to the design of drawings, graphic images and pages of a graphical user interface.
