On Dec 29, 2020, Shanghai High People's Court made a final ruling on a Lego counterfeiting case and sentenced 9 people years in prison.

In this case, the illegal sales of counterfeited goods amounted to CNY 330 million (USD 50 million). The main offender Mr. Li was sentenced 6 years in prison and imposed a fine of CNY 90 million (USD13.8 million) for the crime of infringing copyright of Lego. The other 8 offenders were sentenced 3-4.5 years in prison and fined respectively.
