Dear Colleagues,
While our profession as a whole has experienced many changes, central and unchanged among them has been its dedication to service and community. One of the foremost ways in which we have shown our dedication to these ideals is through pro bono service. For the second year in a row, I am volunteering to serve the North Carolina Bar Foundation as its Statewide Co-Chair of 4ALL. The 4ALL event is a statewide service day for North Carolina attorneys where we have the opportunity to provide free legal information to our communities.
The 4ALL event is very similar to a phone-a-thon event. In partnership with local news stations, volunteer attorneys are on-air taking calls from citizens and providing free legal information to them at each of our seven (7) sites: Asheville, Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greensboro, Greenville, Raleigh and Wilmington.
This event in unique ways provides us with a reminder of the privilege we hold as lawyers and how even the smallest sharing of information we possess can empower and change the course of someone else's life for the better. We hold specialized knowledge, bearing with it an ethical duty to continually serve others in support of the public good.
Please join me on March 6, 2020 in supporting this important day.
About the Event. Receive calls from the public and essentially triage the caller's legal issue. No need to know a great deal about each issue. You are encouraged to triage/provide information – not resolve the matter. During the event the NCBF provides malpractice coverage for volunteers and provides helpful guide sheets, snacks, and fellowship with local bar colleagues.
Day of Involvement. In Charlotte, the event is held at WBTV One Julian Price Place Charlotte, NC 28208. Shifts are 3-hours beginning at either: 7AM, 10AM, 1PM, or 4PM. Locations vary for each site, view each registration page for location information

Spread the Word. The more volunteers we have with widespread expertise, the more members of our community we can serve. Please do spread the word. If you have any questions, contact me at gwendolyn.lewis@lincolnderr.com.
