A FINRA proposal to extend the expiration date of FINRA Rule 0180 ("Application of Rules to Security-Based Swaps") to September 1, 2021 was published in the Federal Register. Comments on the proposal are due by February 19, 2020.

As previously covered, this rule maintains the status quo, limiting the application of FINRA rules to security-based swaps. FINRA filed the proposed extension for immediate effectiveness. The exemption was previously set to expire on February 12, 2020.
