Taft successfully defended an appeal of the $3 million+ jury verdict that it earned for its client Mark Mishler in the “Revenge of the Counterclaim” matter tried in May 2024. The Plaintiff/Counterclaim Defendant raised four issues on appeal, but all were found to be without merit and the $3 million+ judgment of the trial court (which includes punitive damages, attorney fees, and pre- and post-judgment interest) was affirmed in its entirety.

The Dayton team was led by partner Glen McMurry and associate Christopher Wolcott and also included associate JP Jarecki and paralegal Holly Hayes. McMurry argued the appeal.
McMurry is a partner in the Dayton office. He has years of experience serving diverse corporations and individuals resolving a wide variety of issues, including complex dispute resolution and compliance with local, state, and federal laws. He also focuses his practice on construction claims, insurance claims/defense, and mergers and acquisitions.
Wolcott is an associate in the Dayton office. He advises clients on business disputes, contract negotiations, and commercial litigation matters. Prior to joining Taft, he was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Melissa T. Standridge at the Kansas Court of Appeals.
Jarecki is an associate in Taft’s Dayton office and focuses his practice on commercial litigation. Prior to joining Taft, he gained valuable legal experience serving as a judicial extern to the Hon. Chief Judge Algenon L. Marbley, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and as a judicial extern to the Hon. Judge Guy R. Humphrey, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
