Malta: Inward/ Foreign Investment

Bill No. 172 (the “Bill”) has been published to amend the National Foreign Direct Investment Screening Office Act (Chapter 620 of the Laws of Malta) (the “FDI Act”). The Bill primarily integrates the National Foreign Direct Investment Screening Office (the “Office”) within the Malta Business Registry and introduces clarifications to the FDI Act.

Malta's finance and insurance sector, while smaller in absolute size, has a notable impact on the European Union (EU) landscape. The sector directly generated 19% of the total value-added to the Maltese economy in 2019.

Results of the sixth Investment Sentiment Index, which was conducted by Misco International, were presented by BOV Asset Management at a business breakfast earlier this week.
