The European Commission was left quite impressed after Malta's score for both completeness and compliance to the Single Market directives was amongst the best in its class. Furthermore, Malta has also achieved the 0.5% proposed target for transposition law along with 12 other EU member states.

Malta's performance on the Single Market scoreboard was deemed to be nothing less than "quite remarkable", particularly when topped off with a 0% compliance deficit. This scoreboard is quite a significant one since it gives a clear overview of practical management of the Single Market whose effectiveness is operated by the EC and EU and EEA member states. On the other hand, as resulted from the same report, Malta still needs to increase its step in areas such as pending cases and procedural efficiency of public procurement.

Keeping such areas of improvement in mind, Malta's achievements with regards to the Single Market, coupled with a recent 'A' rating awarded to the Maltese economy by DBRS, all seem to indicate that Malta is heading in a positive economic direction thus far.
