Cancel Culture vs Due Process
In the contemporary digital age, the phenomenon of "trial by media" represents a significant challenge to the constitutional right to a fair trial. Media trials are defined as "certain regional or national new 'events' in which the criminal justice system is co-opted by media as a source of high drama entertainment". This concept refers to the influence of television, newspaper, and social media coverage on an individual's reputation, effectively shaping public perception of guilt or innocence before or after a judicial verdict.

The Legal Loophole And Marketing Miracle Behind A 250 Crore Blockbuster
Hanuman Ansh, produced for just 2 crore rupees, has now made over 250 crore. And there is a legal reason it could tell this story so cheaply. The first is a marketing miracle. The second is a quiet point of law. Let me take both. It is a devotional drama about Neem Karoli Baba, made by a first-time filmmaker, Vishal Chaturvedi, from his own book. It opened on August 7 to a day-one collection of just ten lakh. Almost nobody knew it existed.

CCPA Draft Guidelines - Prevention And Regulation Of Pesky, Promotional And Unsolicited Commercial Communications, 2026
Pesky, promotional and unsolicited commercial communications can be intrusive and disruptive for consumers, particularly when received without their consent. They can result in consumers being constantly exposed to unwanted commercial messages, making it harder to distinguish important communications from promotional content. In some cases, such communications may also encourage unwanted purchases or expose consumers to potential fraud and other risks. In view thereof, Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has proposed a draft of the Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Pesky, Promotional and Unsolicited Commercial Communications, 2026 (Draft Guidelines).

Protection For Distinctive Trade Marks In India - From Film Title To Well-Known Mark: The Delhi High Court's Decision In GHOSTBUSTERS Cross-Class
A film title, repeated across sequels, merchandise and decades of publicity, can come to function as a trade mark in its own right, a badge that the public associates with a single source. Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. v. Registrar of Trade Marks concerned exactly such a title, GHOSTBUSTERS, and the protection it can claim against a very different product bearing a very similar name. The Delhi High Court’s decision is important for owners of strong, distinctive marks, including film titles, because it confirms how cross-class protection for a well-known mark is to be approached, and that it does not depend on a prior formal declaration.

The Delhi High Court’s New Anti-Piracy Balance -Dynamic Injunctions Against Rogue Streaming Sites And Chasing Pirates That Keep Changing Masks
In Home Box Office Inc & Ors. v. Streamzy.to & Ors. (CS(COMM) 740/2026, 2026:DHC:5967; order dated 27 July 2026), Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani granted an ad-interim injunction against a cluster of rogue streaming websites and, more significantly, refined the mechanism by which such injunctions are extended to the mirror, redirect and alphanumeric sites that predictably follow. The order’s contribution lies in a single, disciplined distinction: between the technical verification that an intermediary may perform, and the adjudicatory determination that belongs to the court alone.
