On February 11, 2013 The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) published a new revised Form N-470, Application to Preserve Residence for Naturalization Purposes. This form allows a permanent resident alien who is assigned to work abroad for certain employment purposes to preserve his or her permanent resident status for naturalization purposes. USCIS will continue to accept older editions (dated 01/06/10 and later) of the Form N-470 until April 11, 2013 when it will then only accept the 1/03/13 edition.

Pursuant to USCIS' Form Improvements Initiative and its continued efforts to centralize filing locations at the USCIS Lockbox facilities, the Form N-470 is now to be filed with the Dallas Lockbox facility. According to USCIS, the new centralized filing location will streamline intake functions, enhancing customer service and improving operational efficiency.
