Tina Masrour, a senior associate at Hammond Taylor, has been shortlisted for the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards 2021.

Tina has been named as a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards 2021 for Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year.

The Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards is the benchmark for excellence, recognising the outstanding women influencing the legal profession in Australia displaying key leadership qualities and providing a role model for future female leaders in law to aspire to.

Tina Masrour said that she was humbled to be recognised and proud to be named as a finalist in the Women in Law Awards 2021.

"At the peak of the pandemic, I realised that vulnerable migrants, particularly women, were more susceptible to being exploited as a direct result of the pandemic, so I signed up to volunteer with Anti-Slavery Australia (ASA)" Tina said.

"I negotiated with Hammond Taylor to offer one day a week to this very important work, and Hammond Taylor gladly accepted. ASA provides free Legal and Migration Services to people who have experienced or are at risk of modern slavery in Australia. I felt like I had an obligation to offer to assist the work of ASA, given that my legal skills and experience as an Immigration Lawyer would be greatly beneficial to this work, and understanding that so many migrants were even more exposed to exploitation and abuse as a direct result of the pandemic, without access to government support, and with their movements even more, restricted because of the government mandated lockdowns."

Hammond Taylor is proud of Tina's outstanding energy, spirit, and commitment to her work and clients and she richly deserves to be named as a finalist in the Women in Law Awards 2021.

Congratulations Tina!
