Three members of our Perth restructuring team have won the 2026 TMA Australia Case Study Competition, announced at the TMA Australia National Conference lastweek.
Associate Director Harry Kasten and Managers George Thompson and Olivia Gulvin teamed up with Cassie Chu-Yu-Chee from Allens to take on this year’s competition, where they prepared and presented a case on a complex distressed investment opportunity, setting out a proposed transaction structure and turnaround plan to an investment committee.
Judges commended the clarity of the team’s presentation and, in particular, how well they held up under robust questioning from the panel, a key part of the competition which is designed to replicate the scrutiny of a real investment committee.
Perth Restructuring Partner Richard Tucker said the competition was a valuable opportunity for the team to put their technical and commercial skills into practice. He said, “I’m incredibly proud of the team and the way they approached the challenge. They brought strong commercial thinking and fresh perspectives to a complex turnaround scenario. TMA plays an important role in developing the next generation of restructuring professionals, so it’s fantastic to see the team recognised.”
TMA Australia is Australia’s leading professional association for turnaround management and restructuring, and the competition gives emerging turnaround professionals the opportunity to take the lead on a complex case typically handled by more senior practitioners, while building practical restructuring and turnaround skills.
