Rothera Bray is celebrating eight years of partnership with Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire, continuing to provide vital legal support to older and vulnerable people across the county.

Since 2018, the firm has worked in partnership with the charity to provide local residents with access to free, expert advice on a range of matters through its legal clinics. Over 240 appointments have been made through the clinics in the last year, demonstrating the growing demand for these services and the strength of the partnership.

The firm provides weekly private client clinics, offering guidance on wills, probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and care-related legal issues. In addition, a dispute clinic is delivered every other week, supporting people with neighbour disagreements, family disputes and compensation matters.

Kirsten Wood, Partner and Head of Wills and Probate at Rothera Bray, said:

“We’re incredibly proud of our longstanding partnership with Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire. Our private client clinics help people with a wide range of important matters, from making a will and planning ahead to understanding Powers of Attorney and managing probate or care-related queries. Additionally, the clinics offered by our dispute resolution team can support people with family disagreements, neighbour disputes and compensation claims. Together these services ensure people can access clear guidance and make informed decisions with confidence.”

Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire is the largest independent charity in the county supporting older and vulnerable people, helping around 40,000 local residents each year. Its services include information and advice, benefits entitlement support, scam prevention, legal guidance, companionship, advocacy, home energy checks, specialist dementia care and social activities.

Demand for the charity’s services continues to grow, reflecting the needs of an ageing local population. Nottinghamshire has a higher-than-average proportion of older residents, sitting 4.5% above the national figure, with around 40% aged over 50. At the same time, financial pressures remain significant, with an estimated £32 million in Pension Credit still unclaimed across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Through its work, Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire is tackling these challenges head-on. Last year, the charity helped secure over £6 million in benefits entitlements, as well as delivering more than 3,000 hours of companionship and 2,000 specialist dementia care sessions.

Martyn Illingworth, Joint CEO of Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire said:

“We truly appreciate Rothera Bray’s commitment to our cause and our community. Their generosity and dedication over the last eight years has made a real difference to local lives.”

As an independent local charity, Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire ensures that all funds raised within Nottinghamshire are reinvested directly into supporting people across the county.
