We were pleased to have advised select investors on the Cayman Islands law aspects of Athora Holding Ltd.'s ('Athora') €3.5 billion equity commitment to support its acquisition of Pension Insurance Corporation Group Limited ('PICG').
Equity commitments were secured from a broad base of institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds Mubadala Investment Company and Abu Dhabi Investment Council, pension funds, insurance companies, and other cornerstone investors including Apollo and Athene.
Athora is a leading pan-European savings and retirement services group, serving approximately 2.8 million policyholders. The acquisition of PICG by Athora creates one of Europe’s largest insured savings and retirement services businesses.
Our multi-disciplinary team for this matter was led by partners James Murrie, Hugh Anderson and Bicrom Das with assistance from senior counsel Liam Doughty and associate Hai Xin Huang. This matter was also supported by Nilani Perera and Robert O'Dolan from our Fiduciary Services team.
We were delighted to work alongside Sidley who acted as lead counsel to Athora on this matter.
