Gowling WLG has further strengthened its real estate capability with the appointment of Sunita Chawla, who joins the firm's Commercial Development and Investment (CDI) team as Partner, bolstering its offering across mixed‑use and logistics development.
Sunita joins at a time of continued growth for the firm's real estate practice and will play a key role in supporting clients investing in, and developing, complex mixed‑use schemes and logistics assets – both core areas of strategic focus for Gowling WLG.
Sunita was previously a Real Estate Partner at BCLP, where she advised investors, developers, occupiers and asset managers across the full lifecycle of commercial real estate assets, with particular experience in leading and project managing large-scale development projects and mixed‑use schemes. She brings a strong track record advising developers and institutional investors in the UK market on both investment and development strategies. Her practice aligns closely with the established Gowling teams operating across logistics and mixed‑use assets, where development expertise and commercial insight are critical to delivering value.
Sunita's arrival reflects Gowling WLG's ongoing investment in its CDI team and its broader growth strategy, strengthening the firm's ability to support clients on the development side of transactions, from site acquisition and structuring through to delivery and onward sale.
Commenting on the appointment, Felicity Lindsay, Head of Real Estate Group, said: "Sunita's experience and approach are an excellent fit for our CDI team and our wider real estate practice and sector. Mixed‑use and logistics continue to be key areas of focus for the firm, and her expertise further strengthens our ability to support clients investing in and developing complex schemes in these sectors."
Sunita added: "Gowling WLG has a strong reputation in the real estate market, particularly for its work on development projects. I'm excited to be joining a team that has a clear focus on mixed‑use and logistics, and a shared ambition to grow and evolve its offering in line with client needs."
The appointment underlines Gowling WLG's commitment to continue enhancing its market‑leading CDI offering, with depth of expertise across development, investment and asset management, and reinforces the firm's focus on supporting clients as they navigate a rapidly evolving real estate landscape.
