Alison Vassallo, Head of our Yachting Practice, was recently invited by Benetti to the annual Legal Symposium which was this year held in the UNESCO World Heritage site of San Gimignano. This was followed by a visit to the impressive 'House of Yachting', the Benetti Facilities in Livorno which operate alongside the Lusben refit facilities. The Livorno facilities focus on the construction of superyachts ranging from 24 – 100 metres while Lusben is able to handle the refit and repair projects for yachts up to 120m.
The event, which included the participation of over 50 superyacht lawyers hailing from across the globe, offered invaluable insight into the craftsmanship, innovation and passion that distinguish the Italian yachting giant. Highlights included the participation of the International Chamber of Commerce [ICC] for an in-depth analysis of the role of arbitration and dispute resolution in yacht building contracts, together with the opportunity of witnessing a launch ceremony and participating in thrilling sea trials of these magnificent vessels.
