With the recent increase in the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage earlier this month, we're proud to continue championing fair pay across our firm.
We've been a Living Wage accredited employer for over two years, ensuring every member of our team earns at least £12.60 per hour, higher than the government's minimum of £12.21 for those aged 21 and over.
As a firm based in the East Midlands, we are aware that many workers in our region struggle to make ends meet. In fact, over 18.8%* of employees here earn below the real Living Wage, with over 367,000* jobs paying less than what's needed to meet basic living costs. Despite this, we have chosen to go beyond the legal requirement because we believe in providing a decent standard of living for our people.
Sarah Poole, HR Director at Rothera Bray said: "Being a Living Wage employer isn't just about pay. It's about respect, fairness, and creating a workplace where people feel valued. It's one of the ways we show our team that we're invested in their wellbeing and long-term success."
The Real Living Wage is different from the government's minimum wage. It's the only rate calculated based on the actual cost of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for businesses that want to ensure their employees earn enough to support themselves and their families. Since its introduction in 2011, the Living Wage movement has helped nearly half a million workers receive better pay, putting an additional £3.6 billion* into the pockets of those who need it most.
By choosing to be a Living Wage employer, we're standing alongside more than 16,000 responsible businesses across the UK that recognise the importance of fair wages. Katherine Chapman, Director of the Living Wage Foundation, said:
"We're delighted that Rothera Bray has joined the movement of responsible employers who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on. They, like thousands of other businesses, recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer."
While the Real Living Wage is not a legal requirement, we see it as an important part of our commitment to our employees. We value our people, and we want to ensure that everyone who works at Rothera Bray feels supported and fairly compensated for their contributions.
