Marshall Gerstein Partner Ryan Schermerhorn and Patent Agent Christopher (Topher) Zahn provided Industry Today with guidance for manufacturing leaders who wish to protect their cleantech innovations.
“While recent changes threaten cleantech advancements in the U.S., there are opportunities for manufacturers to protect their IP,” the authors write. The changes referenced include the recent suspension of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office’s (USPTO) Climate Change Mitigation Pilot Program, which previously provided an expedited patent filing process for innovations with cleantech aspects.
According to Ryan and Topher, not all is lost, “especially for those willing to think creatively.” They provide strategic considerations for cleantech innovators to protect their inventions.
