Hailey M. Anick is an attorney in Meissner Tierney's litigation practice group. She represents insurers and their insureds in various matters, including general liability and insurance coverage issues.
Where are you from?
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
What was your first job?
Barista.
Do you have any hobbies?
I'm an avid political podcast listener. Some of my
favorites are "The 538 Politics Podcast" and "The
Run-Up."
What is something on your bucket list?
Travel to Prague!
Why did you become an attorney?
Upon receiving my undergraduate degree, I had the choice
between working on a campaign for the 2020 election or attending
law school; I chose the latter!
What does a typical workday look like for you?
My day-to-day can look different depending on the cases
I'm handling at any given time. That said, you can usually find
me drafting a brief at some point each day.
Why did you choose your areas of practice?
I cannot say that I always pictured myself becoming an
insurance coverage attorney. But I can say that once I worked on my
first few insurance coverage cases, I knew that it felt right. A
few of my mentors have said that they didn't necessarily choose
insurance coverage, but rather, it "fell into their
laps." I'd say that accurately describes my experience as
well.
What is your biggest achievement, professional or
personal?
Although my greatest professional achievement is
graduating from law school, I think my greatest achievement of all
is that I am a proud cat mom. I adopted Leo (a/k/a the
"Mouser") from the Waukesha County Humane Society in June
2023:
What is your favorite thing about MTFN?
The people!
What has been the most impactful advice you have
received about practicing law?
"Never stop asking the 'dumb'
questions."
