Chicago, Ill. (September 5, 2023) – Wilmington Partner Rafael X. Zahralddin will speak at the American Bar Association (ABA) Business Law Fall Meeting, hosted at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk hotel on September 8 at 8:00 a.m. CT.

Mr. Zahralddin will present an informative session, titled "The Governance of a Distressed Business: Independent Directors for Hire," which will provide a deeper dive into legal, ethical, and practical issues around board governance. The panel will discuss how business distress creates challenges for board governance, engendering a practice of appointing new board directors for the purpose of a bankruptcy proceeding or other process, including repeat appointment of certain directors. CLE credits are available.

Mr. Zahralddin is a member of the firm's Corporate, Bankruptcy, Complex Business & Commercial Litigation, Digital Asset, and Ukraine Conflict Response Practices. He is a skilled business lawyer and litigator with significant experience advising clients in corporate and commercial litigation, insolvency, distressed M&A, compliance, corporate law and entity formation, corporate governance, commercial transactions, cyber law, regulatory actions, and cross-border issues.
