The Chilean Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) started
using the new version of the Nice Classification of Goods and
Services (10th edition) on January 1, 2016,
and it is already available in the online classifier of
INAPI´s website.
This contributes to unify the criteria used in INAPI with the
main PTOs worldwide, which also started using the updated Nice
Classification on the same date.
In the new version, some new products and services have been
added and others have been deleted. Changes include:class 5 now
covers powdered milk for babies, whereas medical products for oral
hygiene have been deleted; class 9 now covers smartwatches and
protective films adapted for computer screens; and class 45 now
includes personal wardrobe styling consultancy.
