The historic W.T. Waggoner Texas Ranch has been sold at the staggering price of $725 million dollars (approx. €650 million) through Briggs Freeman Sotheby's International Realty, the luxury real estate brand's affiliate and exclusive representative of this property on the market. The ranch was originally established by Daniel Waggoner and his son William Thomas "Tom" Waggoner in 1889 and is located west of Wichita Falls, Texas, south of Vernon, near the Red River, spans six counties and on its own is half the size of Rhode Island.

It had been on the international market since August 2014, when the heirs to W.T. "Tom" Waggoner came to the decision to put the property up for sale. The new owner of this impressive estate is Stan Kroenke, owner of National Football League team Los Angeles Rams and Premier League  football team Arsenal. The estate spans over 210,000 hectares, or over 2,000 square kilometres- which is larger than the total area of New York and Paris put together. In addition, the property holds over 12,000 hectares of agricultural land, around 6,800 farm animals and 500 horses.

Prior to 2014, this property had never been put up for sale and had belonged to the same family since the 19th century. By now, it is practically considered a piece of American heritage. The new owner is a rancher himself, owning 5 additional properties in Montana, Arizona, Wyoming and British Columbia. In a statement, Kroenke said, "This is an incredible opportunity and an even greater responsibility. We are honoured to assume ownership of the Waggoner – a true Texas and American landmark."

This is not the only notable property listed and marketed through the Sotheby's International Realty brand. Other star residences include Michael Jackson's former house in Montecito, California, priced $100 million and Tom Cruise's Colorade home, priced over $59 million.
