We are pleased to announce the promotion of Scott Gardiner, an Associate in our Trade Marks and Designs Group, to Partner on 1 July 2026.

At the same time we are promoting three patent attorneys to Associate: Mark Cooper, Chris King and Kayden Xie.

Scott joined J A Kemp from another leading IP firm as a trainee in 2014. After qualifying, he spent some time in practice in the Middle East, returning to J A Kemp in 2021. Scott's international outlook is particularly valuable to clients managing global portfolios or those involved in multi-jurisdictional disputes.

Mark is a member of the Chemistry and Pharmaceuticals Group, based in the London office. He joined J A Kemp in 2023 from an intellectual property consultancy, having previously worked as a research and development scientist.

Chris joined J A Kemp in 2021. Chris works on patent matters across the engineering and technology sectors, and has a particular interest in medical devices, semiconductor manufacturing, and automotive engineering. He is based in the London office.

Kayden also joined J A Kemp in 2021 and is based in the Oxford office. He works across a range of areas in the life sciences field, including antibody therapeutics, peptide vaccines, immune cell therapies and oligonucleotide technologies. As a member of the firm's diversity and inclusion group, Kayden has worked with a charity for several years, supporting students from northern state schools in developing their social and academic confidence.
