On April 9, 2026, the Canadian Bar Association BC Branch (CBABC), honoured Kathryn McGoldrick with the 2026 Harry Rankin QC Pro Bono Award. This annual award recognizes lawyers who have made exceptional contributions to pro bono legal services in British Columbia. The CBABC Board of Directors commended Kathryn for her significant contributions as Referral Counsel, where she makes herself available to members of the public navigating the Court of Appeal in crisis situations. The Board also recognized her dedication to pro bono service through full representation of clients and her efforts in fostering a culture of devoted pro bono service at Alexander Holburn.

Kathryn's nominators highlighted Kathryn's extraordinary commitment to pro bono work, noting that through the Access Pro Bono Court of Appeal Program, she provides comprehensive merits assessments, often attending court hearings, transcribing reasons for judgment, and incurring personal expenses to ensure informed opinions.

"We are incredibly proud of Kathryn's commitment to access to justice and pro bono service," said Michael Nadeau, Managing Partner. "This award is a testament to her dedication to helping those in need and her leadership in promoting a culture of service within our firm. She has inspired numerous associates to register as volunteers with Access Pro Bono, significantly expanding the firm's pro bono impact."

Kathryn McGoldrick said, "I am deeply honored to receive this award in Harry Rankin's name. Access to justice shouldn't depend on one's ability to pay, and I'm grateful to work at a firm that supports this commitment to serving those who need it most."

The award was presented at the CBABC Awards Lunch during the Provincial Council meeting on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond.
