After an investigation and prosecution lasting almost a decade, the Serious Fraud Office yesterday offered no evidence against BCL client Rachel Rhodes, former Chief Financial Officer of London Mining plc. Ms Rhodes has consistently maintained her innocence, and yesterday's not guilty verdicts follow the SFO's decision that there was no realistic prospect of conviction.
Shula de Jersey, who led the defence team throughout, said: "It has been our privilege to have been able to support our client throughout this challenging process and to a successful conclusion. We are naturally pleased by yesterday's outcome, but it is hugely disappointing and frustrating that it has taken so long to reach this point."
With thanks to James Hines KC of 3 Raymond Buildings, Kathryn Hughes and Rachna Gokani of QEB Hollis Whiteman, and the BCL team, Karen Peacock, Amelia Clegg, Katya Canyab, Dimitri Naumenko-Pronin, and Callum McKenzie Wylie.
