Gowling WLG is proud to announce that Alison Gray, a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group, has been appointed as King’s Counsel (KC) by the Government of Alberta, a distinguished honour recognizing exceptional contribution to the legal profession and community.

The King’s Counsel designation is one of the highest honours the legal profession awards, celebrating lawyers who demonstrate leadership, integrity, professional excellence and service to Alberta’s justice system. A total of 86 lawyers from across the province were named in this year’s cohort.

“The King’s Counsel designation is a longstanding mark of excellence in our legal community,” said Mickey Amery, Alberta’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, in a press release. “These appointees set the standard for integrity, leadership and public service—qualities that strengthen trust in Alberta’s justice system and inspire others in the profession.”

Consistently recognized by Lexpert and Best Lawyers in Canada as a leader in her field, Alison maintains a diverse commercial litigation practice, with a focus on complex matters such as civil fraud and asset recovery claims, energy litigation, and construction disputes. Over the course of her career, she has appeared before all levels of court in Alberta, as well as courts across several provinces and the Federal Court.

Beyond her client work, Alison supports the profession as a sessional instructor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law and through her community involvement with the Association of Women Lawyers and Calgary Legal Guidance.
