World Law Group has appointed Rory Kirrane SC of Mason Hayes & Curran as EMEA Co- Chair of its Energy & Infrastructure Group, strengthening the team guiding cross-border collaboration in this important sector. Rory joins regional leaders Jeremy Blackshaw of MinterEllison (APAC) and Ignacio Minorini Lima of Bruchou & Funes de Rioja and José Augusto Dias de Castro of TozziniFreire (Americas).
Rory is a Partner and Head of the Construction, Infrastructure & Utilities Department at Mason Hayes & Curran in Dublin, where he also co-heads the firm's Energy team. He was appointed Senior Counsel by the Government of Ireland in 2020, marking the first time the title had been conferred on a solicitor. His practice spans both contentious and non-contentious matters in renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate, and utilities, and he regularly advises on large-scale developments and international arbitration. He is widely recognised as a trusted adviser on strategically significant projects in Ireland.
His recent matters include advising SSE on the development of an 800 MW offshore wind farm, representing thermal generation clients in capacity market and balancing market disputes, and working with developers on significant PPP and energy infrastructure projects. His combined legal, commercial, and sector experience brings valuable depth to the group's leadership.
As EMEA Co-Chair, Rory will work closely with WLG member firms across the region to support collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-border referrals in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He will also coordinate with APAC and Americas Co-Chairs to align regional perspectives with the needs of clients operating across jurisdictions. Rory shared the following on his new role:
"I am honoured to join the leadership of WLG's Energy & Infrastructure Group. The opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the network and contribute to cross-border work in such a fast-evolving sector is one I value deeply. I look forward to supporting the group's continued growth and helping strengthen the regional and global connections that benefit our clients."
