Madrid, 8th January 2026 – Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announces the addition of Managing Director Christian Michel from its Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) division to strengthen the Operational Restructuring practice. Working closely with Managing Director Mikel Ortega and A&M’s bench of senior restructuring leads, the addition bolsters the firm’s ability to support operational restructuring processes.
Michel brings more than 30 years of experience in performance improvement, organisational transformation, restructuring and interim management. His career includes more than two decades serving as the CEO of private equity-owned companies and groups such as URSA (Uralita) and Garnica; he has also held the position of General Manager at the International Division of food multinational Campofrío.
Throughout his career, Michel has built a track record as an expert executive in restructuring, transformation and value-creation projects across sectors – successfully leading recovery and restructuring processes in complex, multinational environments in companies across various sectors and geographies, including Spain, Europe, the United States, and Eurasia.
He has managed the turnaround of underperforming business units, handled complex situations, and executed strategic operations, including the successful exit of Private Equity sponsors. He has also led financial rescue and operational transformation processes, implementing efficiency and growth plans which, as interim CEO, have delivered high-impact results.
Prior to joining A&M, Michel spent eight years in consulting, where he led large-scale transformation projects.
This latest move allows Michel to lead high-impact operational restructuring projects, while continuing to drive strategic initiatives alongside the rest of A&M’s team, working closely with the firm’s European Restructuring leadership group.
