Managing Director in Dubai Mohamed El-Swefy brings more than 26 years of industry and consulting experience to lead the new team.
Dubai, UAE, 11th February, 2026 – Alvarez & Marsal Tax (A&M Tax), part of global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has continued the expansion of its offering in the UAE with the launch of a dedicated financial services industry line. Backed by A&M's international network of tax and financial services experts, the new team supports clients with tax advisory and compliance challenges, and helps them establish tax governance and control frameworks.
Mohamed El-Swefy, a business tax expert with more than 26 years' experience in industry and consulting, has been appointed as a Managing Director in Dubai to lead the new team. He joins from EY, where as a Partner he was responsible for corporate tax advisory and led tax governance across MENA.
Mr El-Swefy previously spent 21 years at HSBC, as Head of Tax in Egypt and then as a Regional Head of Tax for MENAT, before serving as a Partner at KPMG in Saudi Arabia, where he led the tax function in Jeddah and oversaw tax services, family business and private clients. Having supported clients across sectors, including financial services, entertainment and hospitality and real estate, he has overseen critical M&A transactions, business tax partnerships and advisory, tax risk control frameworks, and tax functions in 12 countries.
