Taft welcomed Paxton Fleming to its Las Vegas office, both expanding the firm's presence in the Nevada market and its Tax group.

As a tax attorney, Fleming brings a rare and valuable combination of technical knowledge and legal strategy to her practice. In addition to advising on tax matters, she has extensive experience in patents, trademarks, and enforcement. She counsels clients in identifying and securing tax credits, while also providing strategic intellectual property counsel to safeguard their assets.

"I have eight years of experience managing tax, patent, and trademark issues, and I love how these areas complement each other," said Fleming. "I genuinely enjoy analyzing numbers and understanding the math behind everything. That combination of strategy and problem-solving is what makes this work exciting for me."

Beyond her legal practice, Fleming is a dedicated community leader. She volunteers as an assistant varsity softball coach and serves on several nonprofit boards. She currently serves as chair of the State Bar of Nevada's Intellectual Property Law Section, helping to enhance the role and skills of intellectual property attorneys.

"As we work to grow Taft's Tax group across the Mountain West, adding Paxton to the practice and our Las Vegas office is significant," said Stefan Stein, Mountain West chairman and Colorado partner-in-charge. "Tax law is highly complex and layered, so having Paxton's depth of knowledge and experience strengthens the firm's position as a leading resource for tax issues and ability to assist clients."

"The decision to join Taft stems from my passion for the community, and now I have the opportunity to be represented by a platform that has an immense amount of potential to grow in Nevada," said Fleming.

Effective Jan. 1, 2025, Sherman & Howard combined with Taft, creating a firm powered by more than 1,100 attorneys from Washington, D.C. to the Mountain West. The combination enables both firms to deepen their benches of attorneys and strengthen their service offerings. Since the merger announcement, the firm has added 36 new attorneys to the Mountain West offices, accelerating its strategic growth.
