New York, N.Y. (November 10, 2025) -  New York Partner Nathan Sheffield served as counsel for Classic Stage Company on its off-Broadway production of the musical "The Baker's Wife," which opens November 11 and runs through December 21.

CSC's production of "The Baker's Wife," which originated in 1976 and features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Godspell,  and others) and a book by Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof, Rags, The Skin of Our Teeth, and others).  The production represents the largest commercial-enhanced production in CSC's history and the first major New York engagement of the musical. Specialized cafe table seating is available in the front row of each seating section, providing for an immersive, one-of-a-kind experience.

Per CSC's summary, the show follows a baker and his wife in a quiet French village, where they "bring fresh bread...and fresh gossip."

"But when temptation stirs and hearts wander, the whole town gets caught up in a swirl of romance, mischief, and melody. The Baker's Wife brings Stephen Schwartz's soaring score, including the iconic 'Meadowlark,' in its first major New York appearance. Sweet, surprising, and full of heart, this long-awaited production celebrates love in all its perfectly imperfect recipes."
