WASHINGTON (September 2025) – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney secured a victory for the U.S. industry with the International Trade Commission’s (ITC) final affirmative determinations in the antidumping and countervailing duty investigations into Slag Pots from the People’s Republic of China. On September 25, 2025, the ITC unanimously affirmed that the domestic industry was materially injured (or threatened with material injury) by imports of unfairly dumped and subsidized slag pots from China.
“This is a major win for the U.S. industry,” said Daniel B. Pickard, lead counsel to the petitioner and Buchanan’s International Trade and National Security Practice Group leader. “Because of the significant volumes of unfairly priced imports of Chinese slag pots, the domestic industry was harmed. Today, the ITC’s determination will be crucial in restoring fair pricing in the marketplace. We could not be happier with this result.”
With the ITC’s determinations, Commerce will issue antidumping and countervailing duty orders on imports of slag pots from China. Prior to the ITC’s vote, Commerce announced antidumping duties of 294.43 percent and countervailing duties of 226.16 percent.
The Buchanan team representing the petitioner also included Milton Koch, Joseph Pickard, Amanda Wetzel, Claire Webster, Brandon Custard, Natan Tubman, Grace Welborn, Carson Easterling, and Miriam Taylor.
