Young Moore and Henderson, P.A. is pleased to announce that Marlene “Marlo” Donato Kalb has joined the firm as an associate attorney. Marlo will practice in the areas of State and Local Tax Controversy and Long Term Care Litigation. Drawing on her background in public health, healthcare, and regulatory policy, she offers a unique perspective to clients navigating complex compliance and litigation matters. Marlo previously served as a summer clerk with Young Moore.
Marlo earned her Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she was actively involved in leadership and service. She contributed to the North Carolina Civil Rights Law Review, served as Co-President of the National Lawyers Guild Chapter, and represented UNC’s OutLaw as Student Bar Association delegate. Her commitment to advocacy also extended to hands-on legal work, including assisting asylum applicants through UNC’s Immigration Clinic.
Her legal training is complemented by a Master of Public Health in Health Behavior from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and a B.A. in Sociology and Hispanic Language and Literatures from Boston University. Fluent in Spanish, she has conducted and published research on health equity, tobacco control, and addiction policy, with her work appearing in Tobacco Control and the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law.
