Ramona Azzopardi, Head of the Private Client Team and Partner at WH Partners, will co-chair a panel alongside Roberto Duque-Estrada (Brigagao Duque-Estrada, Brazil) at the International Bar Association's conference, The New Era of Taxation, taking place from 10–12 September 2025 in Milan.
Her session, titled "Investing in sports clubs – tax issues arising from ownership of sports clubs", will examine the tax and audit challenges faced by owners and investors in professional sports organisations. The discussion will cover the sector's increasingly complex revenue models, including player transfers, image rights, sponsorship arrangements, stadium operations, and compliance with financial fair play regulations.
The panel aims to provide both practical insights and strategic guidance on navigating taxation in this high-profile and fast-evolving sector. Joining the discussion will be Roberto Bonomi (Withers, Italy), Tiago Cassiano Neves (Kore Partners, Portugal), Rachel Fox (Al Tamimi & Company, United Arab Emirates), Marcel Meier (Niederer Kraft Frey, Switzerland), and Ivan Zaldúa (Garrigues, Spain).
