Louis Capozzi, an associate in Jones Day's Washington Office and Issues & Appeals Practice, has been appointed a Public Member of the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS). ACUS is an independent federal agency dedicated to improving the administrative process through consensus-driven recommendations and best‐practice studies that promote efficiency, participation, and fairness in federal agency procedures.
A former United States Supreme Court Clerk to Justice Neil Gorsuch, Mr. Capozzi concentrates his practice on complex civil and criminal litigation, investigations, and appellate matters involving significant public policy considerations. He has represented Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, and individuals in high‐stakes disputes across the country, often at the intersection of law and public administration. In his new capacity as a Public Member, he will draw on this extensive experience to advise ACUS on initiatives designed to enhance transparency, accountability, and procedural integrity in federal agency decision making.
Noel Francisco, former Solicitor General of the United States and Partner‐in‐Charge of Jones Day's Washington Office, praised the appointment, stating: "Lou's keen understanding of administrative law, coupled with his unwavering commitment to principled advocacy, makes him an ideal addition to ACUS. His insights will be invaluable as the Conference continues its critical work of refining agency procedures and safeguarding the rule of law."
Mr. Capozzi joins a distinguished group of public members drawn from academia, the private bar, and public interest organizations. His selection reflects both his professional accomplishments and his dedication to public service. His ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and deliver results that balance legal, business, and societal interests are skills that will serve ACUS well as it develops recommendations for improving federal administrative processes.
