Manatt is proud to support Kedren Health (Kedren) in the negotiations and development of a landmark mental health care facility in Los Angeles. This innovative resource for children will offer a wide range of mental health services to children and their families under one roof, including urgent care, psychiatric inpatient care, outpatient services, transitional housing units and primary care as a federally qualified health center.

The Manatt multidisciplinary team is led by Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits Partner John Heber, who serves as Kedren's outside general counsel, Government and Regulatory Partner Randy Keen, Government and Regulatory National Advisor Wendy Greuel, Employment and Labor Leader and Partner Esra Hudson, and Manatt Health Managing Directors Megan Ingraham and Kier Wallis. The team is also supported by Antoinette Bedros and Jake Itzkowitz. The Manatt team partnered closely with Kedren on the project, playing key roles including navigating communications and approvals with City officials, negotiating agreements surrounding land transfers and liaising with contractors ahead of the project's construction.

A major milestone was achieved in the project's development when Manatt helped Kedren successfully acquire the land they had long occupied under a lease from the City of Los Angeles. The team's efforts culminated in the Los Angeles City Council's official approval of the land transfer in October 2024, marking a significant step forward for the project and paving the way for the realization of this state-of-the-art health care facility for children.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on April 4, 2025, where the land will be publicly recognized by city officials to signal the start of the project's construction.
