Megan McCarthy, a Public Finance attorney in Ballard Spahr’s Minneapolis office, has been appointed by Women in Public Finance (WPF) to serve on its Emerging Leaders Council.
As a member of the Council, Megan will work directly with WPF’s Board, sponsors, and members to support the organization’s programming by leading events, developing educational content for publication, and helping provide ideas to drive the WPF mission of fostering opportunities for women in the public finance industry. Megan’s term will run for two years.
WPF is a professional networking organization supporting women in the public finance sector. The organization advances women’s leadership opportunities by cultivating relationships and offering educational activities and forums. Founded in 1997, WPF was originally focused on the Midwest region, and has since expanded to draw interest from all over the United States.
As a member of the firm’s national Finance Department, Megan serves as counsel to investment banking firms and investors, municipalities, issuers, and trustees in all types of public finance transactions, with an emphasis on high-yield municipal securities. She focuses her practice on charter school, essential housing, and various project finance transactions serving as underwriter’s counsel, purchaser’s counsel, or bond counsel.
