Johannesburg (South Africa) – Yamani Selana: Indirect Tax
Congratulations to Yamani Selana of our Indirect Tax practice on his appointment as Chairperson of the Tax Board in South Africa, Gauteng Division.
Yamani is based in the Firm's Johannesburg office. He has extensive experience advising domestic and international clients on indirect tax matters, with a focus on customs, international trade and VAT relating to Multinational Enterprises to establish and implement trade compliance programs. Yamani is also a Tax Practitioner affiliated with the South African Institute of Tax Professionals and admitted attorney under the Legal Practice Council.
The appointment was made by South Africa's Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana, and is for a five-year term (2024-2029). The Tax Board is an administrative tribunal created under the Tax Administration Act, 2011, and established by the South African Minister of Finance. The Tax board's role is to hear tax appeals involving tax in a dispute that does not exceed the amount determined, currently at R1 million.
