Date:

25th - 26th November 1998

Venue:

The John Mackintosh Hall, Gibraltar

(featuring exclusive Valderrama Golf Day on 27 November 1998)

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Gibraltar has been an offshore insurance centre for many years but the successful completion last year of a complex legislative and administrative programme has given it a completely new image - one that should not only increase Gibraltar's appeal to companies contemplating establishment of a captive within the European Union, but also to excess of loss/financial reinsurance companies, international insurers looking for a regional base in the EU, and insurance services organisations that need an EU offshore cross-border base.

Following the success of last year's event, the 2nd Gibraltar Offshore Insurance Conference will provide an update on the latest developments in this fast-rising insurance domicile. It will also focus on worldwide (and, in particular, European) alternative risk financing issues. This conference is a must for all those wishing to keep their finger on the pulse of the European captive scene.

The conference follows a unique format, with the emphasis on audience participative sessions. There will be ample opportunity throughout this two-day event for delegates to network with their industry peers and discuss the latest issues and trends.

In addition to the conference, the Gibraltar government will be hosting a day's golfing for conference delegates at the exclusive Valderrama Golf Course, home of the 1997 Ryder Cup.

An industry exhibition will also run alongside the conference.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The conference will be of particular interest to: Captive Owners, Risk and Insurance managers, Captive Managers, Risk and Insurance Consultants, Insurance Lawyers and Accountants, Bankers, Brokers, Insurers, Reinsurers, Investment Managers, Loss Adjusters, Finance Directors and Treasurers.

THE CONFERENCE ORGANISERS

Risk & Insurance Research Group Limited

Risk & Insurance Research Group Limited was formed to meet the need for an independent organisation to undertake research and consultancy on risk management and insurance issues. RIRG consultants have been retained by many major insurance buyers, leading insurers, reinsurers and brokers as well as banks, investment managers and others. Based in London, RIRG also provides international conference and courses and publishes a range of monthly newsletters and books on insurance and risk management topics.

Norwich Union (Gibraltar)

Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society (Gibraltar) Limited is a Gibraltar resident insurance company having various arms including a Captive and Insurance Company Management Division. NU (Gibraltar) was established in 1984 by merging various local insurance concerns including the Norwich Union agency, and is the only locally incorporated insurer insuring in the domestic market: other major UK insurers operate via agencies.

NU (Gibraltar) and its predecessors have been involved in captive management in Gibraltar for over 20 years, and have been instrumental in developing and promoting Gibraltar as an insurance centre over the years, particularly following Gibraltar's access to the single European market.

NU (Gibraltar) offers a wide range of services in connection with captive and insurance company management, including accounting/reporting, company secretarial and underwriting.

EXHIBITION OPPORTUNITY

As well as a full conference programme, there will be a concurrent exhibition where brokers, consultancies, insurers, reinsurers, captive managers and other service providers will have the unique opportunity of demonstrating their products to a European-wide audience of decision-makers. The exhibition will be open throughout the one and a half day conference. The exhibition stand price of £1,750 includes one free ticket to the conference (worth £525) and one free exhibitor ticket (worth £150). One additional exhibitor ticket can be purchased at a cost of £150.
