The Parliament of Canada passed a resolution on March 22 condemning the rise in anti-Asian racism, racist attacks in North America, and to express its unanimous horror at the violent, racist and misogynistic attacks in Georgia last week.

In 2020, Cox & Palmer made a renewed commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. We reminded ourselves that as lawyers who seek justice, there are times when we must add our voices in support of members of our communities who have been subjected to intolerable and persistent attack. We believe we must raise our collective voice in support and solidarity with our friends, neighbours, family members and colleagues who are under attack, and we must also join in the specific condemnation of the violence which has horrified us all.

Cox & Palmer is taking tangible steps toward building a more equitable, diverse and inclusive law firm. Guided by our Regional Board, the efforts of all members of Cox & Palmer will continue, and change will come. But on this day and in keeping with the sentiments expressed on behalf of all Canadians by parliamentarians of all parties, we wanted our collective voice to be heard amongst the messages of support and solidarity.
