The British Columbia government has indicated an intention to
bring forward a bill in the Spring 2015 sitting of the provincial
legislature to implement society act reform in this province. This
will follow on a variety of stakeholder consultations which have
occurred over the last few years, as well as a white paper issued
in 2014. There are approximately 27,000 non-profit legal entities
in British Columbia who use the governance regime of the existing
society legislation.
