After two years of "owning both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue", Democrats have the chance on November 6, 2018, to regain control of the House of Representatives, potentially the Senate, and numerous Governor's Mansions, Attorneys General Offices and State Chambers.

Of the 435 House seats in play in the House, the Democrats need to flip 23 Republican-held seats to take control of that chamber. In the Senate, 35 seats are in play and while Democrats are on the defensive in 26 seats, they need to gain 2 to take control. At the state level, Democrats have a chance to claw back GOP gains made over the Obama administration as 36 Governors seats are up for reelection, 11 of which are GOP held open seats and Eighty-seven of the 99 state legislative chambers are holding general elections in 2018. Heading into the 2018 elections, Republicans control 32 of the country's 50 state legislatures, Democrats control 14, and four legislatures are split between the parties.

As election day approaches, pundits agree that a blue wave is coming. They question just how big the wave will be. It is worth noting that, for the most part, these same pundits missed the Trump will in 2016.

With all signs pointing to an historic midterm election with massive civic participation, Dentons' Public Policy team will be working through the night to produce Election Insight 2018, a detailed analysis of the key races, themes and impacts, informed by perspectives you won't find anywhere else.

Please come back on the morning of Wednesday, November 7th to view the report.
