California companies must provide no less than one full fiscal quarter or 90 days' (whichever is greater) notice of employer-mandated usage of vacation or paid time off, including for holiday shutdowns. If such notice is not provided, employers may permit employees to voluntarily draw down on their balances, but cannot require it.
