Leading global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer celebrates the first anniversary of its Luxembourg office, marking a significant milestone in the firm's continued expansion across Europe and its presence in one of the world's premier financial and investment fund centres.
Established in February 2025 with the hire of funds partner Joanna Pecenik, tax partner Jean-Dominique Morelli and private capital/M&A partner Marc Tkatcheff and strengthened by the arrival of finance partner Laurent Massinon a year later, the Luxembourg office has grown rapidly to a team of approximately 20 professionals in its first year.
Home to one of the world's leading investment fund industries and many key European institutions, Luxembourg occupies a unique position at the heart of European and global capital flows. The office reflects Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer's commitment to supporting clients in a jurisdiction that plays a critical role in international investment structures, fund formation and cross-border transactions.
Since its launch, the Luxembourg office has established a strong platform serving clients across the private capital, investment funds, corporate, finance and tax sectors. The team supports clients throughout the investment lifecycle, from fund structuring and formation through to financing, acquisitions, governance and exit strategies.
Over the past year, the Luxembourg team has advised a broad range of financial institutions, asset managers, private capital sponsors and multinational businesses in navigating an increasingly sophisticated regulatory and investment landscape. Recent highlight matters include advising:
- BNP Paribas Asset Management, a leading global asset manager, on the establishment and launch of an open-ended evergreen Luxembourg reserved alternative investment fund (RAIF)
- Arkéa Asset Management, a leading French asset manager, on the establishment and launch of the new "Millésime 2" compartments of the Schelcher Infrastructure Debt – RAIF ELTIF
- Corporación América Airports in relation to its full acquisition of Corporación América Italia
